This book gives the history of card collecting, elements of a card, sports cards and collectible card games. It provides research and resources, buying and selling tips, advice on how to trade, organize, store, and displaying your collection.
Hank Aaron by J. Poolos This is a captivating biography of one of baseball's greatest players. Hank Aaron broke into the major leagues in 1954 with the Milwaukee Braves and spent the next 21 seasons making baseball history with the organization.

What is the Solar System? by Carmen Bredeson
"Introduces early readers to subjects about space in Q&A format"--Provided by publisher.

Easy Origami. by Didier Boursin. Boursin offers directions for 24 models, some of which are original and actually live up to the titles promise. Using standard origami notation (introduced, along with several bases, at the beginning), he presents two-color step diagrams with reasonably lucid captions for an array of animals, toys, and decorations, from a two-piece tuliplike flower, a perky hamster, and a string of paper dolls to a 12-piece geometric ball. Each project is rated for difficulty and includes one or more color photos of the finished work. Many of the models require scissors cuts, which will ruffle origami purists, but paper-folding novices in particular may be drawn to this collection by its unusually clean design and bright, inviting colors.

OUTREACH SRP 2008

Outreach Storyhour

Theme: Get In The Game, READ!

The Youth Services Department at the Homewood Public Library invited several Daycares or Summer Campers to preschool Storyhour during the month of June 2008 and July 2008. This took place on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at the library. We extended outreach to daycares who could not attend the library for sessions on Tuesday mornings.

Each session lasted 30 to 45 minutes and consists of a variety of stories, songs, games, crafts and videos. Any child who joined our Summer Reading Program earned raffle tickets toward prizes. Also, teachers helped the children to earn raffle tickets by reading books checked out from the Homewood Public Library.

New Peek-a-Books

Get up and Go! This lively cast promotes concerns regarding exercising and describes what fun it can be. The author/artists gives a positive message without being preachy.

The Homewood Public Library is getting ready for its Summer Reading Program. Registration starts Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. Get In The Game, READ! with free baseball cap sundae!!!

Don't forget to join us for Homewood Days when the Homewood Public Library presents "Step Dancing" featuring, James Hart Jr. High Steppers! from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Friday, July 11th, 2008.

Our Finale: Gold Medal Splash Fast at Dolphin Lake on Friday, August 1st, 2008 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am. Children earning a least 10 Reading Reward Dollars are invited to join the Youth Staff for a special celebration!
